National Braille Press (NBP) raised over $137,000 in the first Braille Across America run/walk/bike challenge to raise money for Braille literacy across the country.
Over 170 participants from coast to coast ran, walked and biked a total of 10,315 miles from March 17, which was NBP’s 94th birthday, through April 19, Patriots Day in Massachusetts.
Glen Magpiong of Wellesley, a member of Team Super Nice, logged 297.1 miles, and the team as a whole, which also included Chris Cavallerano of Wellesley, logged 815.61 miles.
“Our original fundraising goal was $26,000 and 2,620 miles, and I am proud to say we far surpassed that at $137,000 and 10,315 miles,” said Brian Mac Donald, president of NBP. “Over the last month, we asked supporters across the United States to come together to each log miles while raising money and awareness for Braille literacy.”
