Leominster Champion As Leominster’s 2021 municipal election season gets underway this month, two School Committee members have announced they will not seek re-election. Ward 3 representative Isabelle Alera and Ward 4 representative Peter Haigis Jr. said during the Feb. 1 School Committee meeting they would be stepping aside Alera after two terms, and Haigis after a single two-year term. One of the reasons for Alera’s decision, she said, is that she is pursuing her master’s degree starting this summer. “Ever since I started [on] this committee, I have had many, many hats,” she said. “I’ve been spreading myself very, very thin . and so that’s partly why I won’t be seeking reelection this year, to continue my education, and to hopefully take some burden off my shoulders.”
