Im matt dickerson, director of the Grover Center for the global budget here at the Heritage Foundation. Our team and i focus our research on issues related to taxing and spending. Unfortunately, i think theres been a little too much of both of those going on recently. But were very excited to be launching this event, this celebration the economic recovery tax act was a positive change in tax policy, yes. But it represented much more than that. It was a change in the mindset. The 1970s were a time of high inflation, high unemployment, low opportunity.
