The Chamber even had to recruit more judges because there were so many illuminated homes around town. ....

The first-prize basket is valued at $300, second-place at $225 and third-place at $165. There will also be three honorable mention homes named. Judging of homes that are decorated will begin at 6 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 18. No registration is necessary, according to project chair Jody Drozd, chamber vice president; any lighted house will be judged. Sponsors include Best of Iowa, Kalona Public Library, The Shop, Stitch ‘N Sew, The Kalona Brewery, The News, Petals Flower Shop.
