Covid-19: Education Dept orders 79 schools in Selangor to close


PETALING JAYA: Some 79 schools in Selangor have been instructed to close for two days after Covid-19 cases were reported.
In a circular issued and confirmed by the Selangor Education Department, the schools will be closed on Monday (April 26) and Tuesday (April 27).
This involves 18 schools in the Petaling Perdana district, 19 schools in the Hulu Langat district, nine schools in the Gombak district, nine schools in the Petaling Utama district, 15 schools in the Klang district, two schools in the Sepang district, five schools in the Hulu Selangor district and two schools in the Kuala Langat district.
According to an Education Ministry statement on Oct 9,2020, schools with even a single positive case detected must close immediately for sanitisation even if they have yet to receive a risk analysis report from the Health Ministry. ....

In Selangor, 79 schools have been ordered to close for two days (26 April and 27 April) by the Health Ministry.
These 79 schools involve:
19 schools within the Hulu Langat district
15 schools within the Klang distict
9 schools within the Petaling Utama district
5 schools within the Hulu Selangor district
2 schools within the Sepang district
2 schools within the Kuala Langat district
This comes after reports that the reopening of schools contributed to a rise in Covid-19 clusters, especially among young students and teachers.
Current SOP states that any school with even one active Covid-19 case must be closed for 2 days to undergo sanitation procedures. ....

SHAH Alam City Council (MBSA) donated a total of RM249,000 to 83 schools in Petaling Perdana, Petaling Utama, Klang and Gombak districts.

Bogus ustaz and Immigration officer nabbed

PETALING JAYA: Two men, one posing as an ustaz (religious teacher) and the other as an Immigration officer, were detained for cheating and robbery.
The first suspect, calling himself “Ustaz Don” @Hilmi, had offered to treat a 50-year-old foreign woman via traditional means at her home in Desa Mentari flats at about 11.15am on Monday.
In the midst of the so-called treatment, the “Immigration officer” barged into the housing unit and demanded for the victim’s belongings, said Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal.
“The second suspect took the victim’s phone, RM1,500 in cash and jewellery. ....
