listen in if he requests, according to one former administration official. vice president mike pence will frequently join often at the request of mr. trump. this is very interesting reporting. what you re reporting together here is the picture of a phone call that really in the administration inside the white house is an event. all of these high ranking people who are taking part or listening in and who are privy to it and yet your reporting also suggests that the president himself doesn t typically prepare that much for the events. the process is not that different from what it has been under previous administrations. the national security council runs this process before every foreign leader call they do, they give him a short briefing book. when is the last time you talked to this leader? what is the purpose of this call? what do we want togive them? he gets an in person briefing.
and maybe exception of steve bannon, suspicious of this guy. he is playing to the audience of one. that is the open question here. general flynn was the person briefing president-elect trump and candidate trump and now president trump. did they talk about the sanctions before the phone call? we will ask the president when we get a chance later on. the other question is when did the white house counsel use the information after they went to him? what happened when that information got to the white house? there was a breakdown in process here. remember, the day after the obama administration put the sanctions on russia and after flynn apparently talked to kislyak about it, donald trump
