SUBANG JAYA: A syndicate offering fake loans on social media to small businesses has been busted. The group, which had been active for four months before the police caught up with it on March 12, is known to have targeted small business owners needing micro loans ranging from RM200 to RM1,000. Subang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Abd Khalid Othman said potential clients were made to pay fees regardless of whether they had received the loan or not. He added that seven men and nine women were arrested during a raid at its premises in Puchong Prima that day. “We are still identifying members of the syndicate because the suspects kept mum when we questioned them,” ACP Abd Khalid told a press conference yesterday at the district police headquarters here. ....
