COLUMBIA BASIN – More than 200 local athletes earned all-league honors during the fall sports season, ranging from honorable mentions to players of the year. Read along to see what awards athletes from all 12 local schools earned this fall sports season.
RICHLAND – Playing at the D-BAT Summer Series in Richland, the Moses Lake Rattlers went 4-1 on the weekend with a win in the team’s final game of the season.
“We were excited for our last tournament,” Head Coach Lisa Lawrence said. “A chance to wrap things up on a high point, which we did.” .
MOSES LAKE – The 18U Moses Lake Rattlers began their season at the Kate Austin Memorial Tournament over the weekend, going 3-2 in games against teams from across the Pacific Northwest.
With high school softball season having ended just under three weeks ago, it was a quick turnaround for the Rattlers before their tournament in Tri-Cities over the weekend.
SELAH – Down 2-1 to Selah in the Central Washington Athletic Conference district tournament game, the Vikings rallied off nine runs in the top of the fifth inning to take down Othello 11-1, sending the Huskies to a loser-out game in the District 5/6/8 Crossover against Clarkston.
“That was mostly our fault,” Othello Head Coach Rudy Ochoa said. “We made a couple of errors we shouldn’t have made … It just started snowballing. It seemed, after a while, it didn’t matter what we did.” .
EAST WENATCHEE – The final inning in Saturday’s fastpitch contest between Moses Lake and Othello saw two lead changes, including the walk-off hit by Maverick senior Ali Stanley that gave her team an 8-7 win over the Huskies.
