Written By: Leah Ward | × Helms WORTHINGTON Attempted murder charges have been filed in Nobles County District Court against a Rushmore resident who allegedly tried to shoot a victim in the head. Perry Helms Jr., 23, was arrested Sunday after a 9-1-1 caller told dispatch someone was at a Worthington residence pointing a gun at people. Helms was located near the scene, and a .22 caliber revolver was found on the front lawn, loaded with five rounds and one chamber empty. Witnesses told police that Helms had arrived at the house during a child s birthday party and shown everyone that he had a gun. He reportedly held a gun to an individual s head and pulled the trigger twice, but the gun had malfunctioned. While holding the individual in a headlock, he allegedly he told everyone at the party he was going to kill them, then everyone present, then himself. ....
