they are armed instruments of the state and yes, they should be held to account. i have no problem with people videotaping. the problem is they were inside the area where they shouldn t have been and they should have stepped back. but when police officers now are afraid to get involved, they are afraid to raise force or use anything on the force continuum to move up to putting hands on somebody, using a collapsable baton, any of those type things, even going up to a taser, they are afraid to do it because right now, no one wants him to have qualified immunity on the progressive side. look what happened to the bodega owner in manhattan that ended up, you know, being charged for a crime for stabbing somebody who physically attacked him? police are under that same scrutiny. police are also having a difficult time doing their job right now knowing that in these democratic cities, sorry, the politicians don t have their back. jesse: good points. thanks so much, james. thanks, jesse. j
this was a parade. now we are getting details none of us want to talk about. the fire chief giving us that information that more than half of what they brought to the hospital, that they have data on, were children. and potentially you can see in the picture in the video we ve been showing folks, throughout the evening of that car rushing by and you can see all the young children sitting by the side, which therefore tells us that the car, that suv was mowing through people potentially there by the side that were on the parade route. we don t know. we re going through a lot of video as you know right now, jonathan some of which our standards department is making sure it is okay to show and i ve been able to take a look at some of that. that might tell us once we re able to put that on air why or how this all happened but 12
this time? with regard to prepping for the press conference the command staff is trying to get briefed, it is drinking from a fire hose. they have all of this data coming at them and they have to bring calm to that, make sure the public gets accurate information. then there is really some serious discussion going on likely about how much do we tell the public? is it time for a public appeal for digital data, for video recordings, for the businesses that had security cameras? do we give the name of the person of interest publicly? lawyers are likely involved. the command staff is involved. that is going on while of course an active investigation is occurring that now likely involves numerous state, county, federal agencies. this is what the police rehearsed. they have exercises, joint exercises with their colleagues
subjects or individuals, a lot of the data will be out there as frank just said. there is a lot of camera footage, we ve seen a lot online. there are license plates, things out in the open tochlt get their hands around what they do know versus what they can t figure out at this point. they ll be very cautious in these press conferences and part of the reason is oftentimes law enforcement is trained to schedule press conferences at a set interval. they also want to get facts correct when they walk out to the podium. this is extremely dynamic. the other big point is if they do need something as frank was referencing if they are looking for someone or something they want to get that information out in the press conference as soon as possible. so that the public can assist or they can put away any conspiracy or rumors that might be untrue. the white house will really want to know what is the motive of this? is it a criminal act?
