Schoolgirl, 16, killed in 'knife attack at Chinese takeaway' was 'hard-working grade-A student'

19:16 EDT, 6 March 2021 89 shares A 16-year-old girl described by her family as a gentle soul has been pictured after being killed in a suspected knife attack at a Chinese takeaway.  Wenjing Xu lived above the Blue Sky takeaway in the rural Welsh village of Ynyswen, Treorchy, where police were yesterday called to reports of a stabbing.   South Wales Police arrested a 31-year-old man on suspicion of murder and a 38-year-old man has also been taken into custody, with both receiving treatment in hospital for injuries.    The force initially said Wenjing s death was sudden and unexplained but after a post mortem examination they confirmed she was murdered.

Police say they will maintain a “significant presence” in the community over the weekend but hope to reopen Baglan Street “at the earliest opportunity”. Elizabeth Little POLICE STATEMENT IN FULL South Wales Police can confirm the sudden and unexplained death of a 16-year-old girl in the Rhondda earlier today. Cause of death has not been confirmed and a post-mortem examination will take place to help establish how she died. Emergency services were called to a premises in Baglan Street, Treorchy, at approximately midday today (Friday, March 5) to reports of a stabbing. Two men have been arrested in connection with the incident and are currently in hospital receiving treatment for serious injuries.
