Covid seemed to drop out of the news this week; usually, I ll see virus stories on news sites most read or recent news lists; this week I had to go looking for them. Part of the reason was that the East Coast fuel pipeline shutdown dominated the headlines, but the underlying reason is that new cases in the US and globally are falling rapidly, even in India. And the news organizations are reluctant to cover a story that bleeds less this week than it did last week. ....

‘Energy Choice’ Bill Has Some Lawmakers Worried Local Government Could Lose Power

Though it’s dubbed an “energy choice” bill, a proposal now before the state Senate has lawmakers worried that Pennsylvania municipalities will lose some power over local decisions.
Members of the Senate Local Government and Environmental Resources and Energy committees met for a joint hearing Tuesday where they heard from stakeholders and discussed Senate Bill 275. Sponsored by Sen. Gene Yaw, R-Lycoming, the bill claims to prevent discrimination against all forms of energy by prohibiting municipalities from creating policies that restrict sources.
“It seems like it may be a bit of a solution in search of a problem,” Sen. Tim Kearney, D-Delaware, said. “Since my time in the Senate, it’s been hammered into me that one size does not fit all in Pennsylvania, so I’m a little distressed by this sort of idea that we should decide for all boroughs, all municip ....

Dominic Andrew Booth, 18, also known as Big Dom, of Millerstown died unexpectedly on Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2021, at Hershey Medical Center. He was a super hero, donating all of his organs through Gift of Life. He provided other families’ loved ones to have the opportunity to have a second chance at life.
He was born July 15, 2002, at Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill, to Harold Jr. and JoAnn Marie (Thomas) Booth.
He completed his junior year at Greenwood High School. He loved playing video games on his computer, magic cards and playing with his nieces and nephews. He enjoyed playing recreational soccer through Ickesburg and played on the Greenwood High School team. He was a member of Cub Pack 7 of Millerstown and Boy Scout Troop 7 of Youngs United Methodist Church, Shermans Dale. He worked at Hidden Valley Scout Camp, Loysville, for one summer. He loved his best friend Thomas Ros ....
