UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. An information science master’s degree that emphasizes emerging technology such as cloud computing, big data, machine learning, and the Internet of Things is now being offered online at Penn State.
Applications are being accepted for the 33-credit Master of Science in Information Science program, which is being offered online by the Engineering Division of Penn State’s Great Valley School of Professional and Graduate Studies through Penn State World Campus. Courses will start in January 2022. ....

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. While working in the medical devices industry as a biomedical engineer, Michelle Hatch began shopping for graduate programs that she could complete in her spare time. She sought something close to home or online that would advance her skills and complement her interests in engineering.
During her search, she landed on a page from the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society, which listed programs that they endorse as being high quality. Two Penn State faculty members with expertise in crisis leadership will host an upcoming webinar about how executives and managers can lead effectively in challenging times.
The experts, Paul Obidinski, a professor of practice in psychology, and Jill K. Wheeler, a lecturer in psychology, teach in the online Master of Professional Studies in Psychology of Leadership that is offered through Penn State World Campus.
The webinar, Leadership in Times of Crisis, is scheduled for noon to 1 p.m. (ET) Thursday, May 20. Registration is open through the Penn State World Campus website. ....

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. For some students on the Penn State University Park campus, hunger is a primary concern each day. The Lion’s Pantry was created to address this concern by providing food and supplies to students so they can shift their attention from food insecurity to being a student. This semester, two teams of students brought together by the Nittany AI Challenge are taking that strategy a bit further to include a plan to balance nutritional needs of students while eliminating food waste in the community. UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. Wayne Lonstein, founder and chief executive officer of VFT Solutions Inc., and recipient of the Penn State World Campus Outstanding Alumnus Award, is lifting up incoming students by creating the VFT Solutions, Inc. Annual Scholarship for Smart Track to Success Students in the Penn State World Campus. Smart Track to Success is a program designed to help students who are new to higher education or returning after an extended period of time away get acclimated to the online learning environment. Lonstein has committed a total of $12,500 over the next five years to support scholarships for students enrolled in the Smart Track to Success program, with preference going to first-generation college students. ....
