Holes have been drilled into Spring Creek's stopbanks in an attempt to understand why they cracked, with initial tests showing the cracks are at least a metre deep.
Spring Creek residents are invited to an update from Council’s Rivers and Drainage Engineering Team about the proposed Peninsula Road stop bank repair and upgrade project. The meeting is at the Spring Creek Community Hall on Thursday 2 May at 7.30pm.
Spring Creek residents did not have to evacuate today as expected - but compromised stopbanks mean the community remains at risk during future storm events.
Marlborough Civil Defence and Emergency Management (CDEM) is advising some residents in the township of Spring Creek near Blenheim to evacuate their homes by 9am tomorrow morning.
