Commodity Fetishism is a theory that definitely has a part in today’s modern society. We are more than ever, measuring the value of commodities by the price that it is given to it because of the prestige that it is attached. The labor that is put into commodities is not what drives cost, it is the value that others symbolically attached to an item that drives cost. Chocolate, Apple, and Jordan are three distinct products that perfectly embody the idea of Commodity Fetishism and how it is affecting our Hispanic and Black communities.
