City donates $2,000 to local charities for Christmas Hamper Programs

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – The City of Fort St. John is donating $2,000 to local charities for their Christmas hamper programs.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the City’s Annual ‘Toys for Tickets’ campaign was not possible as, in the spring, the City stopped enforcing parking meter violations to encourage shop local initiatives during the pandemic.
Instead of collecting donations from parking tickets, $1,500 will donated to the Fort St. John Salvation Army’s Christmas Hamper program and $500 to the Peace Senior Connect and Care Society’s Senior Hamper program.
Mayor Lori Ackerman says she is appreciative of all the work that these two charities do to ensure no one goes without during the holidays. ....
