(Last Updated On: February 23, 2021)
The Taliban have strongly rejected a postponement of a troops withdrawal from Afghanistan and said their “fighters will never agree” to this.
In an interview with Germany’s dpa, Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said: “Our fighters will never agree to an extension.”
“NATO, America and all sides have come to the conclusion that if they want to overcome the current crisis, the only good solution is the implementation of the agreement signed,” he added.
“If, God forbid, the agreement is violated, then of course the people of Afghanistan will defend themselves … as they have done for the past 20 years.” ....

Taliban deny claims that freed prisoners have returned to battlefield

(Last Updated On: February 8, 2021)
Taliban spokesman Mohammad Naeem on Monday dismissed claims that 85 percent of the Taliban prisoners freed last year have returned to the battlefield.

This comes after First Vice President Amrullah Saleh said on Sunday that 85 percent of the over 5,500 Taliban prisoners freed in accordance with the US-Taliban agreement last year had returned to the battlefield.

Saleh also said that many of them had been rearrested or killed by Afghan forces during clashes.  ....
