At a time when people in the National Capital Region are shivering in winter, with a minimum temperature of 3.5 degree Celsius, and with cold, icy winds blowing across Delhi, thousands of farmers from Punjab, Haryana and UP are staying in the open as the dharna entered the 23rd day. They cook their food in the open, eat at âlangarsâ and sleep inside trucks and trolleys.
On the other hand, the social media is buzzing with videos claiming that farmers are gorging on pizzas and rabri-jalebi sweets, using washing machines and foot massagers, and staying inside luxurious safari tents. Those circulating these videos claim that farmers are having a good time while putting thousands of commuters and traders to difficulties by blocking highways. ....

In my prime time show âAaj Ki Baatâ on Monday night, we showed visuals of women supporters under the banner of Akhil Bharatiya Kisan Sabha, a farmersâ wing of CPI, raising objectionable slogans like âModi, Mar Ja Tuâ (Death to Modi) at the farmersâ dharna site at Shahjahanpur on Rajasthan-Haryana border.

It appears that the Left parties including CPI, CPI(M), CPI(ML) and pro-Naxalites are furthering their own agenda in the guise of supporting the farmersâ cause. Farmers can never use such objectionable slogans against the Prime Minister. On Monday, the agitating farmers observed a dayâs fast. They have been carrying on their agitation peacefully, but elements owing allegiance to the Left are trying to inject hatred and violence. ....
