Christmas Week: COVID-19 case totals and updates for Kentucky

Kentucky has confirmed 257,063 positive cases since reporting began last March. Author: WHAS11 Staff Updated: 3:43 PM EST December 27, 2020 LOUISVILLE, Ky. Gov. Andy Beshear has announced 1,509 new cases of COVID-19 in Kentucky. Twenty-one new deaths were also reported, bringing the total to 2,555 who have lost their lives to the virus. The positivity rate for the state stands at 8.06%. There are 1,504 currently in hospitals around the state with 411 in intensive care and 217 on a ventilator. Kentucky has confirmed 257,063 positive cases since reporting began last March. Due to the holiday weekend and limited reporting, more information will be available Monday. Saturday, December 26 Gov. Andy Beshear announced COVID-19 case numbers and deaths from Thursday, Friday and Saturday this evening. 

100-year-old woman one of the first long-term care residents to receive COVID-19 vaccine

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) Several long-term care facilities in Kentucky began administering Pfizer s COVID-19 vaccine on Monday.  Landmark of Louisville said around 100 residents and half of its staff received the vaccine on the first day. The first to get it at the facility was 100-year-old Pauline Weis.  I could feel it. I haven t had a shot for a long time, Weis said.  For her, Weis said there was no question about getting the COVID-19 vaccination.  If I am doing anything that s helping anybody else it s alright, Weis said.  Landmark of Louisville s Administrator Mandy Smith got emotional when talking about the vaccine s arrival.
