BYGONES: Turnaround for ‘jinxed’ ice rink in 1987
SLOUGH’S £3 million Ice Arena, which had previously been branded as “jinxed”, was starting to make a healthy £10,000 a week profit by the spring of 1987.
A council spokesman told the Observer that during the period of six weeks to the end of March the complex had made £65,058 and was a “very good performance.”

One of Slough’s most famous landmarks, The Bestobell Man, was restored to its original site on the Farnham Road 33 years ago.
