Dead because the president refused to kill his Health Care Law. Is the republican default button. It makes them feel rotten just to stand in the same room with this president. My question, is this going to be like this all the way to 2016 . This anger, this right wing fever that never breaks . The sheer hatred that the American People, that the American People chose him as their president. Not once, but twice. Tonight the insatiable crazed anger of the right about the harsh reality they assumed would never be. The presidency of barack obama. David corn for mother jones and msnbc political analyst. And joy reid, an msnbc contributor. Having lost in their plot to block the Health Care Law by taking the federal government and the economy hostage, republicans have now decided to go home. They wont work with this president on anything because he had the nerve to beat them. Politico reports republicans plan to block president obama on all his initiatives including Immigration Reform. Quote,
On unifying the party will have to come from our presumptive nominee. What a lot of republicans want to see is we have a standard bearer that bears our standards and unifies all the wings of the Republican Party. Its time to go from tapping into anger to channelling that anger into solutions. This evening donald trump responded to that. He said im not ready o support speaker ryans agenda. Perhaps in the future we can Work Together and come to an grem about what is best for the american people. Also michael steele, the former chair who is an msnbc political analyst. What is happening tonight . Do we have a sense of news tonight . Absolutely. The crowd is fired up. They are ready to hear donald trump. Remember, this is his first rally since becoming the presumptive nominee. Its interesting because the gop leadership is backing away from him. Theyre not ready to embrace him. Donald trump, expect him to come out and talk about that. The speakers that are out here before him have already me
The doubt at every turn . Yeah. David, i ask that because sources say President Trump believes the current atmosphere with ongoing probes into trump russia putin ties in the election meddling, its going to make it impossible for him to make a deal. Thats the first time we heard Something Like that from the president. Hes right. Hes right. Listen, its of his own doing. I mean, we wouldnt be here trying to discuss all this had he shown the same sort of respect toward russia he does toward china, that is hes sceptical about some aspects of the relationship. Whats interesting to me, everyone, when he said its of his own doing, this nunes thing may not have happened if not for that saturday morning tweet, those tweets about the former president. This was a completely selfinflicted wound. I totally agree with that. Weve been off on a wild goose chase here for a long time, but its also important to remember the fbi investigation began before that tweet. Theres something more serious underneat
Team that th whether this time is going to make a difference. The goal among Senate Republican leaders and those at the white house is to get a deal by weeks end, still, by the end of this week, to have it in place before leaving for congressional recess, because next week is july 4th. Theyre all going to be home in their home states all week. That is the goal. But, you know, anderson, the alternative was definite failure. We started talking about this last night as we started getting the Senate Republicans, one after another, telling us that they were not even going to vote for the measure necessarily to start debate on this bill. And the numbers got so high, it was incredibly clear to the Republican Leadership and the white house this morning that they didnt really have a choice but to heed the warnings and the calls from a lot of their members that they need more time, and of course the leadership needed more time in order to, and theyre still going to try to craft some form of deal
The house and Senate Intelligence committees and perhaps even the fbi in exchange for some type of immunity. We have a statement from his lawyer tonight. It says this. It says general flynn certainly has a story to tell and he very much wants to tell it should the circumstances permit. Some very interesting words there, general flynn certainly has a story to tell. Now, of course, the whole point of this are the conversations that general flynn had with any russian operatives. Now, that ultimately led to his firing some 24 days into the White House Administration because he was not upfront about all those conversations. He misled the Vice President and others. Now, the question here is, will the house and Senate Committees take him up on this . The Senate Committee had no comment this evening. The House Committee said nothing has been offered on that at this point. But there will be a real fight here. Some people will certainly want him to testify should they invite him in open session
