The park has been closed to the public since the Dec. 18, 2023 flood which damaged the park's bandstand, washed away benches and took chunks of earth as it went.
Floodwaters damaged much of the park, where the historic blockhouse sits, but Winslow's town manager sees an opportunity to revitalize 'the diamond of the town.'
The station, built in 1970 and not updated since 1998, pumps all of Winslow's untreated sewage in a single pipe beneath the Kennebec River to a treatment plant in Waterville. It sustained major damage during last year's floods.
