Views: Visits 10 Milliand Dikio By Emem Idio, Yenagoa The Interim Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, PAP, Colonel Milland Dixon Dikio, Retd, says the era of servicing contractors and their cronies are gone for good. He said that the PAP will no longer patronize contractors at the expense of the real owners of the programme which are the ex-agitators, just as it will no longer fund the scholarship of students in areas that are not of comparative advantage to the region. Dikio stated this on Friday in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital, during a parley with the leadership of the first phase of the PAP. ....
The incident happened on Monday night when Igboho stormed the troubled area in Yewaland. However, the spokesman of the Command, Abimbola Oyeyemi, yesterday told newsmen in Abeokuta that three suspects have been arrested in connection with the crime. Oyeyemi also disclosed that there have been attacks in the past three days on herdsmen settlements in Yewaland. According to him, the settlements affected have been in existence in the area for many years, in some cases for over 20 years, and inhabited mainly by Nigerian herdsmen of Fulani extraction, some of whom he said were born and brought up in the area, and speak the Yoruba language with proverbs fluently. ....

With the recent attack, it was gathered that two militant groups are fighting for the control of the area. The area is endowed with huge deposits of crude oil and gas and major oil companies in the country have their facilities around the creeks. Between the last Christmas day and January 3, 2021, gunmen launched some destructive attack on Peremabiri, where the residence of a popular ex-militant leader, Paul Eris popularly known as Ogunbos, and 20 others were set ablaze. IYC vows to stop politically motivated protests against NDDC On By Davies Iheamnachor – Port Harcourt Ijaw Youth Council, IYC, Worldwide has vowed to stop all politically motivated protests against the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, stating such demonstrations may lead to violence and other unpleasant consequences. The President of IYC, Peter Igbifa, reiterated the position of his council to abstain from any politically-motivated protests against the NDDC that is capable of destabilising the oil-rich region. Igbifa in a statement in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, advised parents to stop their children from engaging in any demonstration targeted at occupying the NDDC headquarters in the name of IYC. ....
