Paul Eluard and André Breton are considered the founders of the surrealist movement
in France. This cultural movement was created after World War 1 and is characterised
by the process of creation and expression eg, painting, drawing, music, photography,
cinema, and poetry. Surrealists developed innovative techniques that produced amazing
images and associations of ideas, with themes such as dreams, the unconscious, freedom,
revolt, and love. In his collection L amour, la Poésie, published in 1929, Eluard
delivered one of his most famous verses: “The earth is blue as an orange” (translated
from French).
