Americans began receiving their stimulus checks on Friday, but some people are still waiting to see the $1,400 payment appear in their accounts, inspiring jokes, and memes on Twitter.
Those who have already received their stimulus checks likely did so because they had direct deposit accounts with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), likely from tax returns or previous stimulus payments. However, the process won t move as quickly for others.
Certain banks, including Chase Bank and Wells Fargo, have said that the stimulus checks will become available to their customers from as early as Wednesday, March 17. Therefore, many people will be waiting on their stimulus check for at least another two days. ....

Wells Fargo, Chase not processing stimulus payments until Wednesday, sparking criticism

Banking giants Wells Fargo and Chase said they will not process recently issued $1,400 stimulus payments until Wednesday, causing outcry from their customers.
HuffPost noted that the banks said in individual statements last week that they will not be processing and releasing the payments until March 17.
“We expect most of the electronic payments to be available as soon as Wednesday, March 17, 2021,” Chase said on its website.

“Wells Fargo will process all of the direct deposits according to the effective date provided by the U.S. Treasury,” Wells Fargo said.
The announcements sparked criticism on Twitter. ....
