EVELETH/GILBERT â Winners in the VFW Patriotic Art Contest in the Eveleth-Gilbert Schools were Hailie Dryer, first place; Gavin Kokal, second place; and Rebecca Muster, third place. Kim Mattson, member of the auxiliary to Mesaba Range VFW Post 1172, is chairwoman of the Patriotic Art and Voice of Democracy contests. Deb Custer, Eveleth-Gilbert art teacher, put together a slideshow of past Patriotic Art national winners as part of the students instruction. There were 27 Eveleth-Gilbert participants in the contest. Love ....

Palm Springs: Art show Every year, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3699 hosts the Patriotic Art Contest. For this year s competition, the VFW Post 3699 received artwork submissions from 20 high school students in the Coachella Valley. The high school students that were selected will have their artwork honoring the military displayed for the public at the Palm Springs Air Museum and the General Patton Memorial Museum over the Memorial Day weekend. Winners of the competition are Jennifer DeLeon and Graciela Tijerina-Cruz; across the country, VFW Auxiliary Scholarship offers 10 national awards for a total of $31,500. The national first-place winner receives a $15,000 scholarship. The second-place winner receives $7,500 and the third-place winner receives a $3,500 scholarship award. Fourth place receives $1,500 and those placing sixth and below receive awards of $500. ....
VFW Auxiliary Post 1012 announces scholarship winner COURTESY OF VFW AUXILIARY POST 1012 Eloise Jean-Marie, a Medford resident and junior at Arlington Catholic High School, was named as the Medford VFW Auxiliary Post 1012 first-place winner of the 2020-21 Young American Creative Patriotic Art Contest. Under the sponsorship of Medford VFW Auxiliary 1012, Jean-Marie will advance to state level competition held by the Department of Massachusetts VFW Auxiliary. Students must submit an original two- or three-dimensional piece of artwork. Digital art, photography and jewelry are not accepted. The entry must have been completed during the 2020-21 school year and the application must include a teacher or supervising adult’s signature. ....
