Dozens of families living in at Patrick Henry Mobile Home Park in Newport News have now relocated after they were forced out over the last several months. There is help available.
Dozens of people living in a mobile home park behind the Newport News Williamsburg International Airport are saying goodbye to their homes after they were forced out.
Tenants must be out of the Patrick Henry Mobile Home Park by midnight Saturday. The Peninsula Airport Commission, which owns the property, is closing the park out of concern over finances. While the move-out date has been set for months, the encroaching deadline set off a last-minute scramble this week for dozens of remaining residents.
There are 63 current tenants and their families living at the trailer park at the Newport News/Williamsburg International Airport, down from 82 in May.
Several Peninsula Airport Commission members defended the decision to close the trailer park at the Newport News/Williamsburg International Airport and kick out the park’s 77 tenants terming the move a necessary step so the struggling airport doesn’t have to spend millions to fix it up.
