Alexander Patrick Alleyne and Tarvis Orin Campbell admitted in court in March that they were part of an attempted armed robbery at a holiday residence in the town of Christ Church. The failed robbery in February 2020 led to a shooting that left Calgarian Ken Elliott paralyzed.

Elliott and his wife, Linda Brooks, were staying at the property with Elliott’s brother and sister-in-law when the two assailants entered with a machete and handgun. During a 20-second skirmish, Elliott was shot in the shoulder. The bullet pierced his lung and lodged in his spine, paralyzing him from the neck down.
