Framingham man arrested in stolen U-Haul van
Police arrested Tarik Sutton, 47, at 11:20 a.m., police spokeswoman Lt. Patricia Grigas said on Tuesday.
Recently, Franklin Street residents had complained to the police about the number of cars that drove too fast on their road. Due to those complaints, police had officers patrol looking for speeders.
On Sunday, an officer saw a U-Haul van speeding near the Otis Street intersection and pulled it over. A back-up officer arrived and recognized the van as possibly being stolen.
“He said, ‘Didn’t Natick have a U-Haul stolen the other day?’’’ Grigas said.
The officers ran the license plate and determined it was the same van that had been stolen on Saturday.
Police arrested Jennifer Germain, 45, at 12:10 p.m.
Earlier on Thursday, officers obtained a warrant for Germain’s arrest in a case that began Tuesday.
“She’s tied into a check forgery case,” police spokeswoman Lt. Patricia Grigas said Friday.
Germain, who has no fixed address, is accused of stealing eight checks from a Framingham man who is in his 70s. The checks were then written out to someone else, who cashed them. The total amount stolen was about $850, Grigas said.
The incidents occurred on Tuesday and Wednesday.
An officer on patrol soon after the warrant had been issued by the court saw a woman matching Germain’s description walking on Irving Street.
FRAMINGHAM Police said a local man who has been under investigation for distributing drugs tried to run from detectives on Thursday when they arrived at his home to arrest him.
Police caught up to Christian Cruz, 28, and arrested him at 6:46 p.m., police spokeswoman Lt. Patricia Grigas said Friday.
The MetroWest Regional Drug Task Force, which is comprised of detectives from Framingham, Marlborough and Natick, has been investigating Cruz for “several months,” the lieutenant said.
On Thursday, detectives decided to arrest him and search his 9 Central St. apartment.
“They were at the Central Street location and they saw him exit his home and head to his van,” said Grigas. “When he saw the detectives approaching him, he turned and ran. They quickly took him down and arrested him.”
