- thank you for being here. - happy to be here. - we spend a lot of time, in the era of donald trump, asking the broad question, is donald trump good for the media business? let me be specific and ask you, if donald trump is good for the conservative media business? - you know, he s a challenge for the conservative media business. - why is that? maybe cause he s not a conservative? - that has something to do with it. - right. (laughter) - the reality is that, over the course of the past half century or so, the conservative media business and its flagship, national review magazine founded by william f. buckley, had a particular view of conservatism that they advocated for. a view which actually won. they were originally founded as a magazine that criticized eisenhower, that was very critical at various points of richard nixon, but then saw their fulfillment in ronald reagan. - ronald reagan was the apex, right? - everything that they really wanted to see in a candidate ....
