See that silver lining. it is. it would be nice that we could see the goodness come out on a regular basis. unfortunately that s perhaps just not the way we re programmed. pastor manning, it s been three years, more than three years since the tragedy took place in charleston. is there a point where you walk into the congregation, you walk into the church and the memory of that awful event isn t there, or is it always there? john, it has to always be there because one of the challenging things is through the process of time if we forget. we have to remember. we have to remember what took place, we have to remember the hate that spawned that, then as well we have to remember the love that overcame that. and i think realistically the further we get away from any event the tendency is to kind of just let it, you know, go back and say, well, okay, it s a longer focus, the news cycle has changed, there s something out there going on. ....
Community who is going through all of the different stages of grief? we work on it together. we help each other, that no one is alone in their grief. pastor manning, one of the most remarkable things we saw in the aftermath of what happened at the tree of life synagogue is you went to be with rabbi meyer to share what you learned. how do you approach something like that? again, john, it was really just to be there as i have said before from ministutistry of presence, just to let rabbi and the tree of life synagogue know that they are not alone. that there is a place that shares their grief and understands firsthand what they have experienced, what they have gone through. so when we went to be with rabbi meyer it was just to let him know that he is not alone. both of these crimes broke the country s heart. i mean, they were they were ....
Continue to pray our way through it. when the victims speak and families speak i pray that people pay attention because as i said before everyone s reading about it. everyone s talking about it. we have lived it. the families are still living it. pastor manning saying some of the hardest days could be ahead. went we hear from more victims in open court during victim impact statement and finally members of the church are hoping to remember the victims handing out calendars each month with the story and face of some of the victims. of those nine victims killed here about a year and a half ago. that s the focus they want to be on, the victims here and of course not the man standing trial in federal court. a small token to help them remember, amid some painful testimony to listen to. ....
