VALDOSTA, Ga. (WTXL) â The Lowndes County NAACP and other groups filed formal ethics complaints today against Valdosta Mayor Scott Matheson.
The complaint states that comments and actions he made on his daily radio show The Scott James Matheson Show are divisive and inflammatory.
According to the complaint, one example of this behavior includes the mayor sitting quietly and not objecting as his cohost stated that voter suppression needed to be done.
The complaint also says the mayor has made disparaging racial comments and fails to give the appearance of being un-partial and unbiased. ....

VALDOSTA, Ga. (WALB) - Several organizations are calling for Valdosta Mayor Scott James Matheson to be removed from office immediately. It comes after the groups filed an ethics complaint against him.
It all started from comments made on
Group members claim he has violated a few ethics standards under the cityâs ordinance.
âOn one day, itâs illegal to pay someone to vote, but on the next day, election day, itâs legal to pay someone to canvass, even though they donât canvass,â said Matheson on his show on Jan. 12 on 92.1. âIâm going to ask, what do they have in common? Large massive unchecked migrant populations.â ....
