It doesn t seem as if miami will get a direct hit from the eye anymore, although it feels like we re going to get hurricane winds and a storm surge. what s your sense if people are still being as careful as they need to be or ling up at all? not at all. all of my friends i ve talked to are in secure houses, they re together, in good humor, but they re taking it seriously. i ve never seen the community take it more seriously. you have to, the storm surge could be over 6 feet, on the west coast they re talking 10 the 15 feet and for a while they were forecasting strong winds in miami. and one of the worries is these giant construction cranes, a sign of the growth of miami, but a concern because of the winds. that s a concern. they re not built for category 5 ....
