钩沉｜太行蜿蜒来 井陉扼其吭

人们在谈到“井陉”时，往往引用宋代的地理著作《太平寰宇记》，说井陉“四方高，中央下，如井之深，如灶之陉”，意思是说井陉像一个盆地，四周高、中间低。
实际上早在先秦时期就有关于“井陉”的记载，《吕氏春秋·有始览》说道：“何谓九塞？大汾、冥厄、荆阮、方城、殽、井陉、令疵、句注、居庸。”书中列举了雄居天下的九处关塞，井陉位列“第六塞”，这是目前已知关于井陉的最早记载。
唐代地理学家李吉甫名著《元和郡县志》卷十七记载：“井陉口，今名土门口，县（获鹿县）西南十里。即太行八陉之第五陉也，四面高、中央下，似井，故名之。”并引用了晋代著作《述征记》，谓“其山首自河内，有八陉，井陉第五。”这里不仅说明了井陉是盆地、是关口，还明确了井陉是太行山的第五陉。
