Expert proposes task force to address telecom issues
Use of illegal signal boosters has led to distortion in spectrum
KARACHI:
The distortion in spectrum has become a serious issue for the telecom industry because of the increasing use of illegal signal boosters.
Experts have proposed the setting up of a task force, like in the UK, to monitor and address the wireless interface issues so that the public and telecom industry can cope with the problems caused by the illegal devices.
Speaking to The Express Tribune, ICT consultant Parvez Iftikhar said, “In every country, it is the responsibility of the telecom regulator to safeguard the interest of customers and cellular operators alike by ensuring an interference-free spectrum.” ....

China’s market regulator released new anti-monopoly guidelines on Sunday that target internet platforms, tightening existing restrictions faced by the country’s tech giants.
The new rules formalise an earlier anti-monopoly draft law released in November and clarify a series of monopolistic practices that regulators plan to crack down on. ....

ISLAMABAD:
Exports have recovered to pre-Covid monthly levels of around $2 billion with the strongest recovery in textile, rice, cement, chemical and pharmaceutical sectors, said State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) Governor Reza Baqir.
Speaking at a session titled “Pakistan’s Economic Response to Covid-19 and Way Forward for an Inclusive Economic Recovery” on Tuesday, Baqir said Pakistan needed to focus on competitiveness and reduce imports even further to support local businesses. ....
