A controversial tax policy has triggered a mental health crisis which has led to reports of people contemplating suicide, a group of MPs has warned the Government.
The chief executive of HMRC has apologised to a cross-party group of Parliamentarians after some taxpayers facing the loan charge were erroneously sent letters referencing a "serial avoiders unit".
One of the largest cross-party Parliamentary groups has said people facing the loan charge are “deeply upset” at being dealt with by a subdivision called the “serial avoiders unit” of HMRC.
