EAST HAMPTON, N.Y. — Lonnie Holley’s life began at an impossible place: 1950, seventh among his mother’s 27 children, in Jim Crow-era Birmingham, Ala., the air thick with violent racism toward him and everyone he loved. Things got even worse as he grew up. At four years old, he said, he was traded for a bottle of whiskey by a nurse who had stolen him away from his mother. Later, as the story goes, he was in coma for several months and pronounced brain-dead after being hit ....

.-Pace Gallery is presenting a solo exhibition of work by Tara Donovan which reexamines the artist’s seminal Composition (Cards) series at the gallery’s outpost in Palm Beach. Ethereal, illusive pieces made from styrene index cards, the five sculptural paintings on view exemplify Donovan’s unique approach to artmaking, a generative process in which she incrementally and cumulatively shapes her work. Collectively, Donovan’s practice is characterized by her ongoing exploration of the aesthetic potential of her chosen media as well as her formidable capacity to challenge and play with the limits of perception. Coming on the heels of Donovan’s solo exhibition of recent work at Pace’s New York headquarters, this is the process-based artist’s debut show ....

Ella Emhoff turned into an overnight sensation with her appearance at the US president Joe Biden and Vise President’s inauguration in January. She wore an unusual Miu Miu coat with bejeweled shoulder teamed with a sober white-collar sent online media into ire.
Emhoff, a senior and art major student at Parsons School of Design, knitwear creator, young Model, and stepdaughter of Vice President Kamala Harris, signed with IMG Model and made her runway debut at the New York Fashion Week lately. She currently featured on a magazine cover of Dust, a European biannual magazine about art and fashion.’ ....

The curly-haired twenty-something is fashion’s model
du jour and has already booked a fashion film for Proenza Schouler and a mainstay in 
Dust Magazine’s Issue #18.
So the designers at Proenza Schouler decided to dress Ella Emhoff  art student, knitwear designer, fledgeling model in a couple of coats (plus a pantsuit) for her modelling debut in their new collection, unveiled for New York Fashion Week. ....
