A fire broke out in a residential structure on Shrader Street between Grattan and Parnassus in San Francisco s Cole Valley neighborhood Wednesday morning. Google Maps
A fire that broke out in San Francisco s Cole Valley neighborhood Wednesday morning has left one person dead, according to the San Francisco Fire Department.
Department spokesperson Lt. Jonathan Baxter said the blaze broke out in the third floor of a three-story building on Shrader Street, between Parnassus and Grattan, around 6 a.m. The fire was out by 8 a.m.
Firefighters pulled the victim from the building and performed life-saving measures, but the individual succumbed to their injuries, Baxter said.  ....

Bowing his head over a tiny workstation cluttered with a mishmash of mysterious gadgets and appliances, Max Nesbet carefully takes apart a 14-karat gold pocket watch that is at least 200 years older than he is.
 
He ponders aloud while he works. Two initials E.B. are carved into the intricate design. Nesbet isn’t sure who or what that might be referencing, but judging by the hallmark stamped into the case, what he can tell is that the object in his hands was likely an English watch sold in New York sometime in 1786. ....
