President Tsai, Premier Su greet French delegation

President Tsai Ing-wen (蔡英文) and Premier Su Tseng-chang (蘇貞昌) yesterday greeted a delegation led by French Senator Joel Guerriau, expressing the hope that the countries can continue to foster a positive relationship.
Guerriau in his morning meeting with Tsai lauded Taiwan for contributing to regional stability, despite facing sustained isolation because of China.
During the meeting in Taipei, Guerriau vice chairman of the French Senate’s Taiwan Friendship Group and vice chairman of the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defense and the Armed Forces described Taiwan as a pillar of stability in the region.

Taiwan, Poland ties face challenges

Relations between Taiwan and Poland are on an upward trajectory. Since Russia launched an invasion of Ukraine, we have witnessed the close cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) and Polish institutions aimed at facilitating humanitarian relief efforts for Ukrainian people affected by the war.
Additionally, the recent inauguration of the Taiwan-Poland Inter-Parliamentary Amity Association, led by Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Legislator Lin Ching-yi (林靜儀), is an important step toward further institutionalization of relations between Taipei and Warsaw.

Taiwan-Poland lawmaker group launched in Taipei

Lawmakers and officials at the inauguration of the Taiwan-Poland Inter-Parliamentary Amity Association yesterday hinted at how the two nations might collaborate.
Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Legislator Lin Ching-yi (林靜儀), who is the association’s founder and chairwoman, told the event at the Legislative Yuan that the group would bolster the growth of substantive collaborations in business, law and culture.
DPP Legislator Ho Hsin-chun (何欣純), one of the association’s deputy chairs, said that Taiwan and Poland’s friendship is fortified by the common values of freedom and democracy, as well as their stance against communism.
The association eagerly awaits the future of Taiwan-Poland relations, she said.

TAIPEI (Taiwan News) France s Senate unanimously passed a resolution on Thursday (May 6) that called for Taiwan s participation in the World Health Organization (WHO) and three other major international organizations.
The Senate passed the resolution, Taiwan s participation in international organizations, with a vote of 304 to 0, and 19 abstentions. The resolution called for the participation of Taiwan in the WHO, International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol), International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), and the U.N. Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
The resolution was proposed by French senators Joel Guerriau and Alain Richard, both of whom are members of the France-Taiwan Inter-Parliamentary Amity Association. Richard recently received a letter from Chinese Ambassador to France Lu Sh ....
