Victoria County Spelling Bee Champions

Congratulations are in order for Stroman Middle School Victoria County Spelling Bee winner, 8th grader,
Aaron Ehsan. He became the top speller last Thursday for Victoria County when he correctly spelled, “
salubrious.”
both Aaron Ehsan and
Laney Aiken, a high school student, were named co-champions once again at the county bee. The co-champions will go on to represent Victoria County at the Regional Spelling Bee on March 6 at Parkway Church in Victoria, Carolina reported.
Aaron has competed in the prestigious Scripps National Spelling Bee previously in the fifth grade and placed 52nd at that time.
Over a million people watch the ESPN Scripps National Spelling Bee Championship. Over 11 million students compete for the top prizes which include a trophy, and $50,000.00. ....

Robert Eugene âBobâ Chipley, age 83, of Pigeon Forge, passed away Thursday, Jan. 21, 2021.
He was born Feb. 1, 1937 in Burlington, Kentucky and grew up on the family farm. Bob was a dedicated Pigeon Forge firefighter and honor-guard member. He loved his church, Parkway Church of God, and served on the security team there. His hobbies included fishing, playing cards and shooting hoops with his grandkids. Robert loved life and all of his dear friends.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Jean Chipley; son and daughter-in-law, Robert W. and Lorie Chipley; daughter and son-in-law, Debi and Jeffrey Sheridan; grandchildren, Brian Fromen, Shane Chipley, Lexi Sheridan, Sydney Chipley, and Jesse Chipley; sister, Mary Jones; and many nieces and nephews. ....

One of Victoria s most iconic businesses, Dairy Treet, which initially opened in 1955 has announced and started to break ground for its 2nd location! Scheduled to open in summer 2021 and located right off of John Stockbauer, next to Parkway Church, construction crews have already begun to work on what will be one of the most anticipated new business openings in Victoria for 2021. Except, of course, Dairy Treet isn t a new business. In fact, it s legendary!
