As COVID restrictions ease, the Hopkinsville Parks and Recreation Department is ready to turn up the summertime heat via grills and events with the 3rd Annual Squealin’ on the Square Barbecue Festival on Friday, June 4. “Squealin’” is also the leadoff event of Parks and Rec’s newly-branded Sounds at Six series for 2021 (formerly known as Fridays@5). The other Sounds at Six dates are July 16, August 27 and September 10.
Be prepared once again to be “swined and dined” when barbecue ribs, chops and chicken takes center stage for this popular event, sponsored this year by HWEA, HES/EnergyNet and Pennyrile Rural Electric. This year’s Squealin’ on the Square will feature up to 10 barbecue teams battling for cash prizes and trophies in each of the food categories. ....
