Good causes in West Cumbria receive £370K from community foundation

COMMUNITY groups in West Cumbria have received grants worth almost £370,000 from the Cumbria Community Foundation.
IN total, 44 charitable organisations received a share of the funds at a recent West Cumbria Grants Committee.
The money came from funds set up by locals and businesses including Lord Egremont, CCL Secure, LLWR, Shepley Group and Sellafield Ltd.
Looking to improve digital connectivity, Isel Valley Community Partnership CIC received £15,000 from the Tallentire Wind Farm Community Benefit Fund to bring fibre broadband to rural homes in the Blindcrake area.
David Roberts from the Isel Valley, said: “Our partnership was set up to facilitate the roll out of full fibre broadband in the Isel Valley which is presently served by poor telephone and internet services. ....

Bee Unique received Â£2,000 from the CCL Secure Community Fund and the Shepley Group Fund to purchase sensory and tactile play equipment for community events
Community organisations in west Cumbria have been awarded almost Â£370,000 in funding.
Cumbria Community Foundation distributed the cash to 44 charitable organisations at its recent West Cumbria Grants Committee.
The money came from funds set up by local people and businesses including Lord Egremont, CCL Secure, LLWR, Shepley Group and Sellafield Ltd.
Two individuals also received grants to support their career development through educational grants.

Hospice at Home West Cumbria receives £50,000 funding boost

A CUMBRIAN hospice that provides palliative and end of life care in people s homes has been handed a significant funding boost.
Hospice at Home West Cumbria received a grant of £50,000 from the Pappagallino Flow Through Fund via the Cumbria Community Foundation.
The money will be used to support three members of the hospice s specialist palliative home nursing team.
Chief Executive, Julie Monk explained how the money would be used to make a difference to people s lives at what is already a difficult time.
She said: “Throughout the pandemic our exceptional frontline staff have continued to deliver first class care to our community. ....

It’s a welcome start to the year for good causes across Cumbria after they received a share of almost three quarters of a million pounds.
The money came from funds set up by local people and businesses including Castle Green Hotel, Herdy and the Westmorland Family, which are administered by Cumbria Community Foundation.
Twenty six community groups received support to deliver activities that will tackle mental health issues, help those with disabilities, provide advice and guidance to people on low incomes, offer hospice and bereavement support, purchase equipment for emergency rescue services, and assist older people who are vulnerable or isolated. 21 people also received financial support to help with further education and training costs. ....
