Journalist leaders meet Law Minister, demand Rozina’s release
Leaders of the different journalist organizations on Tuesday met Law Minister Anisul Huq demanding immediate release of Prothom Alo Senior Reporter Rozina Islam and withdrawal of the false case lodged against her.
A delegation of journalist leaders led by Jatiya Press Club President Farida Yasmin, General Secretary Ilias Khan, Joint Secretary Mainul Alam, Bangladesh Secretariat Reporters Forum (BSRF) President Tapan Bishwas and Finance Secretary Masud Ul Haque, Diplomatic Correspondent Association of Bangladesh (DCAB) President Pantho Rahman met the minister at his Gulshan residence at night.
After the meeting with journalist leaders, Law Minister Anisul haque told reporters that Rozina will get justice in the court while she would be produced on Thursday.

Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Li Jiming has said China is ready to help Bangladesh with more medical supplies, including medical oxygen, if the situation gets worse as it is facing the second wave of Covid-19. China is ready to offer more, if needed, he said, recalling how Bangladesh and China helped each other in dealing with the first wave of Covid-19.
He said this pandemic is a global challenge, and past experience keeps reminding us that only through cooperation within the international community we can embrace victory.

Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen has made an appeal to the international community to work sincerely instead of giving lip service to repatriation talks for the Rohingyas. There are 1.1 million Rohingyas in the camps of Bangladesh and majority of them are girls and women. It is time for us, the world leaders…we must come forward to repatriate them and reintegrate them in Rakhine and give them a future, he said.
The minister was addressing an International Women s Day event titled Women in Diplomacy: How are We Doing? as chief guest. It was organised by the Diplomatic Correspondents Association of Bangladesh (DCAB) with support of the Bangabandhu Research Centre for Foreign Policy and Diplomacy at the Foreign Service Academy today.

He made remarks in a discussion at the Foreign Service Academy, attended by Mia Seppo, the resident coordinator of the United Nations in Dhaka, on Monday.
“I have an appeal for all. Instead of paying lip service, you should come forward with sincerity so that these people could be repatriated to their homeland for a better life,” he said.
Bangladesh is sheltering over 11 million Rohingya refugees, who have fled persecution in Rakhine state of neighbouring Myanmar and taken refuge in the overcrowded camps in Cox’s Bazar.
