[background sounds] hello, everybody. I have the job of introducing dr. Moore for todays book presentation and discussion. Now, when i agreed to do this she and i talked for a little bit about the best way to introduce her in the talk and we decided the best way was to mix things up and change it up a bit. So im going to begin by briefly introdiscussing her Research Interests and professional activities and then say a bit more about what where shes coming from in the book. First, her Research Interests. Her first book examined the interaction of race with the United States Senate Procedures from the 1950s onward.
