Ancient wreckage found in Lipis believed to be from steamship

More than 100 fragments of wood were found which are believed to be part of the ship. A number of commercial ceramics the same age as the ship s relics, comprising Chinese and European ceramics, were also found at the discovery site, he said Thursday (Jan 28).
Sharkar said the National Heritage Department together with the Pahang State Museum Corporation, assisted by villagers, had carried out the process of documenting, recording and preserving the artifacts over five days starting Jan 19. ....

KUANTAN, Jan 28: A wreckage found after the floodwaters receded about 220 kilometres from here two weeks ago, is believed to be a steamship used in gold mining activities in Penjom which had been operating since the 19th century in the area.

Kuantan-Segamat road closed due to landslides | Malaysia

KUANTAN, Jan 1 The Kuantan-Segamat road has been temporarily closed to all vehicles starting today, due to landslides at two locations  at KM63 and KM73 in Pekan, near here.
Pekan district police chief Supt Mohd Razli Mohd Yusof said the landslides occurred at around 10am, believed to be due to continuous heavy rain that lasted for several hours in the area.
“However, no accidents or injuries were reported. For the safety of road users, the road is closed to facilitate repair works,” he said in a statement here today.
Mohd Razli said during the road closure, those from Kuantan wanting to go to Segamat can use the alternative route from Pekan town to Paloh Hinai then head to Leban Chondong and Muadzam Shah in Rompin. ....
