Kirchner first opened a mill along the South Moreau in 1856, near what is now the junction of Route D and Millbrook Road a few miles south of Lohman. by Jeremy P. Kirchner first opened a mill along the South Moreau in 1856, near what is now the junction of Route D and Millbrook Road a few miles south of Lohman. Several years later, John Scheperle, who immigrated to the United States from Germany with his parents in 1847, settled near the mill in a community he later named Millbrook.
