Admin lens on USG clinics in Palamu as gender gap widens | Ranchi News


DALTONGANJ: The Palamu administration has sounded an alert over the skewed gender ratio in the district and asked officials to check if ultrasound clinics are carrying out illegal sex determination tests.
The alert was sounded after an official document found an increasing gap in the gender ratio in the district. The document, accessed by TOI here, revealed that for 1,000 males, there are 926 females in Palamu.
According to the 2011- 21 census, the population of Palamu is 19,39,269 of which the number of females is only 9,33,567.
Additional chief secretary Arun Kumar Singh who is at present looking after the state health, medical education and family planning department, sent a letter to the Palamu deputy commissioner to hold a meeting of the district advisory committee on the pre-conception and pre-natal diagnostic centres here. ....

15 die of suspected Covid in a fortnight in Jharkhand village | Ranchi News

PALAMU(JHARKHAND): Fifteen deaths in a fortnight were reported from a village in Jharkhand s Palamu district, an offical said Monday.
A probe team sent to the village Khargada under Medininagar found that eight of the fifteen were suffering from cold, cough and fever while remaining were suffering from other diseases, the official said quoting a test report. A team of experts was sent to the said village by Deputy Commissioner Shashi Ranjan which found that all the diseased were above 40 years. As per the officer in charge of Haidarnagar Primary Health Centre, lack of awareness among people resulted in the deaths. ....

Palamu (Jharkhand) [India], May 23 (ANI): After at least 22 people died of suspected Covid-19 over the last 20 days in a tribal-dominated Sua Kaudia village in Jharkhand s Palamu district, the district administration has ordered an investigation and constituted teams to screen those infected with the virus.
According to Shashi Ranjan, Deputy Commissioner, Palamu, a team has been constituted to test people suspected to be COVID-19 infected and shift those found positive into isolation wards to be treated.
District administration and ground-level medical teams conducted detailed investigation here. The situation being observed. Self-help Group workers are conducting surveys in Palamu to record COVID data. Workers will be given Oximeters for COVID patients.
