Reforms being made to achieve sustainable inclusive economic growth: Hafeez December 22, 2020 Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Dr. Abdul Hafeez Shaikh has expressed government s firm resolve to correct the fundamentals of the economy through effective policy making and targeted reforms with the objective to achieve sustainable and inclusive economic growth in the long run. Speaking at a Webinar titled “Making Pakistan Prosper: Strategy for Economic Growth and Development” organized by the Institute of Policy Reforms, he said, despite COVID-19 pandemic various economic indicators including remittances, FDI and exports and large scale manufacturing have shown progress. The Finance Minister said the resurgence of Covid 19 in Pakistan and world over has posed new challenges and the world economy is passing through an unprecedented crisis and according to IMF there will be 4.4 percent contraction in it. ....
‘Not a single PM completed tenure in country’s history’ National December 22, 2020 ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Dr Abdul Hafeez Sheikh Monday highlighted 10 basic facts about Pakistan, saying there was not a single prime minister in the country’s history who had completed his/her five year’s tenure, while Pakistan had chosen to ignore its people that had grave consequences. “Not a single prime minister has successfully completed his/her five-year tenure yet, so how sustainability of policies can be assured in such a scenario. The longest tenure was achieved by the former PM Liaquat Ali Khan, who served from 1947 to 1951 and there was none who could surpass him in terms of serving the country in a single tenure. Finance Minister expresses commitment to correct fundamentals of economy December 21, 2020 Finance Minister Dr. Abdul Hafeez Shaikh has expressed the commitment to correct fundamentals of the economy to achieve sustainable and inclusive economic growth in the long run. He was addressing a webinar titled “Making Pakistan Prosper: Strategy for Economic Growth and Development.” The Finance Minister said the government has given unprecedented fiscal, monetary and construction stimulus to stimulate economic recovery amid COVID-19 and in post-COVID-19 scenario. He said 1240 billion rupees have been allocated to cover emergency response, support businesses and provide relief to citizens during the crisis. Similarly, a special package has been announced to boost the construction sector which includes tax exemptions and subsidies to reinforce economic growth. ....
