PAEC develops first ICU ventilator

Islamabad : Taking a leap towards self-reliance in designing and manufacturing of life-saving equipment, the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC) Wednesday announced having indigenously developed its own Intensive Care Unit (ICU) ventilator named ‘i-LIVE.’
The ventilator has been developed by a PAEC team of scientists and engineers, applying all essential quality standards and regulatory requirements, with doctors from PAEC Hospital, Islamabad, providing valuable input during its development process.
The spokesperson of PAEC Shahid Riaz Khan told the media that the ventilator has been awarded formal approval, licensing and registration by the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP). After this award of approval from DRAP, ‘i-LIVE’ will be manufactured and supplied by PAEC to meet the critical needs of hospitals. Living up to the nation’s expectations amid the third wave of COVID-19 pandemic, Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC) announced to have indigenously developed its own intensive care unit (ICU) ventilator named “i-LIVE”.
According to a news release issued here, the ventilator has been developed by a PAEC team of diligent scientists and engineers applying all essential quality standards and regulatory requirements whereas doctors from PAEC Hospital Islamabad provided valuable input during its development process.
Besides passing through all internal reviews and testing, the “i-LIVE” ventilator also successfully passed the independent reviews and testing conducted throughout the development lifecycle by the evaluation team from Pakistan Innovation and Technology Center (PITC), Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC).

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan witnessed a grim day on Wednesday when over 200 people fell victim to Covid-19, the highest-ever single-day death toll since the virus was first reported in the country in February last year.
The national positivity ratio, which has been hovering over 10 per cent for the last one week, stood at 10.77pc.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC) has introduced ‘i-Live’, the first ICU ventilator produced with national resources in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic. The Drug Regulatory Authority Of Pakistan (DRAP) has formally approved the use and manufacturing of this ventilator.
According to a press release issued by PAEC on Wednesday, this ventilator has been prepared by scientists and engineers of the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission from local resources in accordance with all the prevailing medical standards.
