Public rejects second hike in POL prices this month Islamabad January 17, 2021 Rawalpindi : The hike in rates of petroleum products, the second time in a month has started taking its toll on the lives of the common man who has to bear its brunt in the shape of rising prices of kitchen items and transportation. The monthly budget of the people has been dented heavily thanks to the hike in prices of POL products on 1st of this month by Rs2.31/litre and on 15th by Rs3.2/litre which took the price of petrol from Rs104 per litre (December 31, 2020) to Rs109 per litre (January 15, 2021) within 15 days. ....
Police ready to stop protesting govt employees from entering Red Zone today National January 12, 2021 ISLAMABAD: The Capital administration and police are all set to stop government employees from entering the ‘Red Zone’ because caravans of employees have started reaching the federal Capital for a sit-in in front of the Parliament House today (Tuesday). The finance ministry has once again ruled out the possibility of immediately increasing salaries and perks of government employees despite a threat of indefinite strike by over five dozen organisations and labour unions from January 12, 2021. All Pakistan Clerks Association (APCA) President Haji Muhammad Irshad told The News that government as per habit once again backed out of its promises regarding increasing salaries of public servants. He said last time we went back on government request and it promised to increase salaries but in vain. ....

Members of the Young Doctors Association, the Pharmacists Association, the Young Nurses Association, the Pakistan Allied Health Professionals Organisation, the Pakistan Health Support Staff Organisation, the Young Paramedics Association, the Employees Welfare Association and the All Pakistan Clerks Association gathered outside the main gate of the SZMCH and marched on the DC Office Chowk where they staged a protest gathering. ....
NAB files graft case against ex-minister of Balochistan The anti-graft watchdog has now submitted a reference against former provincial minister in light of solid evidence QUETTA: The National Accountability Bureau’s (NAB) Balochistan chapter has filed a reference in a Quetta accountability court against former provincial minister Sadiq Umrani on charges of illegally grabbing government land and obtaining financial benefits amounting to Rs 280 million. The government had allotted 100 acres of land to the Clerks Association to form a housing society but it was illegally sold to Umrani at throwaway prices. The accused illegally built a CNG station on the government land and continued availing financial benefits. ....
